When Reme Gold shops for groceries in Newton, children and their parents greet her as a celebrity. Reme, who retired last year, has taught kindergarten in 3 different Newton schools.

Reme has been a potter almost as long as she was a teacher. She took her first class at Mudflat Studio in Somerville in the mid-1970s and has rented studio space there for more than 20 years.

Reme’s third love is dance. Now that she has retired from teaching, she has blossomed in her second career as a full-time potter, drawing inspiration from her other loves. Her love of movement is evident in all her designs. Cloud formations can be found in white abstractions, while her glaze overlaps come from her enjoyment of taking the Rorschach test as a child.
