Jackie has always been interested in the interplay of elements in the arts. During her college years she studied Synesthetic Education, a style of art education that emphasizes all the senses. After college she worked for a time as a weaver, in which color, texture and form share equal emphasis. Then in 2006, on a trip to Oregon, she saw her first bead crochet bracelet and was captivated by its unique rope-like quality.
Since then Jackie has been passionate about crafting beautiful and unique beaded ropes of her own. Each piece is an adventure from start to finish. She begins by choosing fine materials, which include sterling silver and 14K gold-filled beads, glass and semi-precious stone beads, and Swarovski pearls and crystals. After carefully choosing a combination of beads, she then strings them in a complex sequence onto a durable nylon thread. The strung beads are then crocheted in the round. The finished work creates an illusion of weight while being pleasantly light and comfortable to wear. Her goal is to create jewelry which will endure in both style and function.
