A
freehand, wet on wet technique transforms white silk scarves into
colorful, abstract, ethereal, one-of-a-kind creations of wearable
art. Depending on the amount of water, the humidity and the airflow,
each piece is spontaneously created by the hand of the artist.
Using hand-painted silk, museum catalogs or beautiful handmade
paper, Sarkisian creates ultra light, colorful, one-of-a-kind earrings,
pins, barrettes and necklaces which are enhanced with new, vintage,
or ethnic beads, buttons, pearls and wire contortions. Layers of
a protective finish add to durability and protect the embellished
surface.
Sarkisian has been an ardent competitor at the New England Spring Flower Show
and an exhibitor at Art In Bloom at the Museum of Fine Arts for over 20 years,
and has won many top awards for her expressive, interpretive floral designs.
She is an accredited Flower Show Judge and has exhibited and lectured internationally.
