Judy
started her artistic endeavors as a knitter and handspinner. She
took a glass course in order to learn how to make buttons for her
sweaters, and was hooked. Many of her stylized fused glass dishes
are made with dichroic glass inclusions reminiscent of embroidery
stitches. The inspiration comes from old needle art books Judy
found at the League of New Hampshire Crafts headquarters. The patternwork
is hand-drawn, acid-etched, and shimmers and looks like silk.
Judy is a juried member of the New Hampshire League of Craftsmen and a three time
winner of the League’s Stevens Glass Award. This year she will be exhibiting
at Paradise City in Northampton, MA over Memorial Day weekend. She lives in Manchester,
NH where she teaches at the Currier Museum Art Center and serves as one of the
ministers at the First Congregational Church.
