Caroline
Cockrill's whimsical, lighthearted, colorful porcelain pieces are
a strong contradiction to the challenge of creating them. Porcelain,
the whitest clay, requires meticulous attention as it not only
is a blank canvas that begs to be filled, but it also tends to
warp during firing. Through her years of experience and training
as an artist, Caroline has developed a unique collection of vibrant
paints, leaves, and her signature cookie cutter animals and shapes
to meet both challenges. The results are both practical, in their
durability, and, wonderful escapes into a world that is sure to
make you smile.
Caroline graduated from Mass College of Art, and she intended to major in painting, but discovered pottery, and was hooked! She still enjoys painting and exhibits these also at the Clever Hand, as well as her pottery.
In addition to being a member of the Clever Hand cooperative, Caroline is also
currently teaching an adult class of wheel throwing at the Danforth Museum in
Framingham.
