Jennifer
Inez has visited garment districts all over the world— New
York City, Hawaii, Asia, Portugal, and most recently, Hong Kong— in
search of the perfect fabric. Color draws her eye first; then she
looks for movement in the pattern and tries to anticipate how it
will work as a finished jacket. She also scours flea markets and
antique shops to find unique buttons and other embellishments.
" In the world of clothing design, Jennifer remarks, the whole
is truly greater than the sum of the parts. All of my work represents
the collaboration of many people, from glass button makers in New
York to artisans in rural Maine. The artistic interactions that occur
along the way, as well as the theater of the marketplace, and the
feedback from my customers at Clever Hand, are as fascinating to
me as the final product." |
